Terms of Service

Last updated: August 5, 2026

1. Who we are

BrightBoard Resume (“BrightBoard,” “we,” “us”) is a resume-building tool for mariners, operated by BrightBoard. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.

2. Your account

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You must be legally able to enter into this agreement to use the service.

3. What you can store with us

The service lets you enter and store maritime credential and career information, including your name and contact details, USCG endorsements, Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) number, work history, education, and uploaded sea letters (which may include images or PDFs of physical documents). You represent that the information you provide is accurate and that you have the right to submit any documents you upload.

4. AI-assisted features

Some features — including sea letter parsing and resume revision suggestions — use a third-party AI provider (Anthropic) to process content you submit. AI-generated suggestions may contain errors; you're responsible for reviewing and correcting your resume before relying on it or sharing it.

5. Sharing your resume with employers

We will not share your resume or contact information with maritime employers or recruiting companies unless you explicitly opt in via the consent option in the resume builder. You can withdraw this consent at any time by updating your settings; withdrawal does not retroactively undo shares that already occurred.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Submit information you know to be false or fraudulent
  • Upload credentials, sea letters, or documents that don't belong to you or that you're not authorized to submit
  • Attempt to access another user's account or data
  • Use the service to build resumes for anyone other than yourself, unless authorized to act on their behalf
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service's operation

7. Termination

You may stop using the service and request deletion of your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

8. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is.” We don't guarantee that using BrightBoard will result in employment, job interviews, or offers. We're not responsible for hiring decisions made by third-party employers or recruiters.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
